Tutoring accounting for three years at The University of Montana Western was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career. My proudest moment was the first time a student said "I wish you were teaching this class!" I believe there are a number of qualities which distinguish me as a world-class tutor and teacher: I have a profound love of learning and abstract thinking. Understanding the cause and effect flow of our universe has always been one of my favorite hobbies, and my comprehension of a given subject tends to be robust, allowing me to better pass knowledge on to the student. My personal style of communication lends itself to explaining concepts, making exposition a natural, easy form of conversation for me. I offer concise explanations which students are more likely to understand. High empathy makes me invested in each of my students’ success. Problem solving is another strength of mine, which manifests in an ability to determine where the student is having trouble grasping the material, as well as determining the student’s natural style of learning. As a business major at UMW, I was only able to tutor business subjects; now, I’m embracing the opportunity to tutor in all subjects I find interesting. Hobbies
Reading, watching TV and browsing Wikipedia are mainstays of my free time, along with daily trips to the gym. While I was living in Montana, I spent part of virtually every day fishing the Beaverhead river and other streams for brown trout. I enjoy learning the lures, techniques and places which will produce fish and consider myself a highly skilled trout fisherman. Inventing is one of my favorite and most unusual hobbies. I have ideated, drawn and (when possible) prototyped over a dozen inventions, including several fishing lures and tackle items.
